(01) Software engineering · York YO30
Most software fails long before anyone writes the code.
We don’t do discovery theatre.
We are a small engineering firm in York. We write the software a business actually runs on, take two builds at a time, and publish what they cost before you ring. Kingsoft is run by Convoyr Ltd.
(02) Why this firm exists
A £180,000 system that never went live.
In 2019 a manufacturer twelve miles from here paid £180,000 for a stock system that was never switched on. Two of us were contractors on that job. Twenty-six people sat in the steering meetings and not one of them was accountable for whether the thing worked.
We left in the March. The first version of how we now run a build was written that November, in a rented room above a shop on Gillygate, mostly as a list of things we refused to repeat.
Then we nearly did it ourselves. In 2022 we took four projects at once and delivered all four late. One client waited eleven weeks past the date we gave them. Since then we run two, and the second slot has a waiting list.
Two builds at a time
Four at once in 2022 taught us what we were worth spread thin. The second slot fills and we say no. The wait is usually five or six weeks.
One engineer, one number
No account manager sits between you and the person typing. You get a name on day one and you keep it until handover.
Tests before features
Every build ships with a suite you can run yourself on your own machine. If a change can’t be tested, it doesn’t get merged.
You own it from day one
Repositories, servers, domains, keys, all in your accounts from the first commit. Sacking us should cost you nothing but the notice period.
Nobody was ever sacked for buying a two-year roadmap. Plenty of firms were finished by one.

(03) What you can buy
Prices up front.
Every figure below is where the work starts. You get a fixed quote after one call, in writing, on the same day. There is no proposal deck and no discovery invoice.
Custom software build
The system your business actually runs on, built around how you already work rather than a licence for somebody else’s idea of it.
Web application development
Portals, dashboards, internal tools. Browser in, work out, nothing to install.
Mobile app · iOS and Android
One codebase, both stores, and a written plan for the morning Apple changes the rules on you.
API & systems integration
Your CRM talks to your warehouse and your accounts package. Nobody re-keys anything at five o’clock.
Legacy rescue & migration
The spreadsheet from 2011 that four people quietly depend on. We read it, we replace it, and nothing stops while we do.
Managed support & on-call
A number that rings someone who wrote the code. Faults acknowledged within an hour in working time, fixed or worked around within 24.
Work we turn down: fixed-scope tenders written by someone who won’t be using the software, and anything that needs to be live in under six weeks. Quotes hold for 30 days.
(04) How you keep track
You watch the money as we spend it.
Every client gets a console on the first day of the build: what shipped this week, what it has cost against the quote, and who is carrying the phone. No monthly status pack, no surprise at invoice.
(05) The next step
Thirty minutes, and you’ll know if we’re wrong for you.
Book a slot and bring the problem, not a specification. If we aren’t the right firm we will say so on the call and give you two names in Leeds or York who are.
(06) Get us on the phone

Monday to Friday, 08:30–18:00. Support clients reach on-call outside those hours.
That’s with us. One of the six engineers will reply by the end of the next working day, and it will be a person rather than an autoresponder.
